Since the day she arrived in Mumbai for the first time on a singing contract lots of things changed around. She fell in love with India as many foreigners do despite of all the pollution, noise and messiness. After one year contract with Shalimar hotel in South Mumbai, Laura kept coming back to India again and again. She spent all of 2010 in Goa, singing in hotels like Cidade De Goa, Fidalgo, Taj Village, Taj Exotica, Zuri in the South, etc. She made lots of friends here and nowadays she calls Goa her second home.

Her family residing in British Columbia, Canada many times tried to convince Laura while she was visiting to stay there, to reunite with her family but Laura was certain about her intention to come back to India. And once intention is clear, entire Universe conspire. While yet in Canada she met an Indian businessman, a Media analyst from Mumbai Anil Wanvari who came there to Judge Banff Awards. Imagine, some of Laura’s poems were written by her in Goa. She remembers: “After one of the transformational No EGO retreats I went for in Bangalore, I went straight to Goa. I sat in my friend’s empty house alone for a few days and wrote 3 or 4 poems. Words were just flowing easily and effortlessly with almost no editing required. Thus title poem of my book THOUSAND THOUGHTS was born.”
